I have loosely been following Nabeel Qureshi battle with an aggressive form of stomach cancer. If you’re unfamiliar with who he is, Nabeel was a former Muslim that became a Christian apologist with the renowned Ravi Zacharias International Ministries which is dedicated to Christian apolegetics.
He occasionally updates his followers online through a series of vlogs. From what I understand on Christian Post, where I normally read about his vlogs, the cancer he has gives him a 1 percent chance of survival.
You might be thinking to yourself , “wow what a small probability ” but on the contrary, Nabeel is quite optimistic about God perofming a miracle. He has stated:
“No, I haven’t given up hope. I really, truly, honestly do believe that I will be healed, against all medical odds, all medical statistics”
Nabeel gives an amazing witness for trusting in God when we undergo suffering. We don’t worship the God of the possible or the maybe , but we serve the God of the impossible (Luke 1:37) . As the psalmist said in the perhaps most well known Psalm 23, ” Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
While we suffer, God can still work in our lives to continually extend his hope. May we cling to this hope in our moments of despair.
